Join Hannah Gould as she provides insight into her research on new traditions and technologies of Buddhist death rites in dialogue with Peter Tyndall’s exhibition The Blue Horizon.
Hannah Gould is a cultural anthropologist working in the areas of religion, technology, and death. Her research is focused on the processes of enchantment and disenchantment of religious artefacts (including Buddhist icons and altars), new technologies (including robots and AI), and the natural world (including wilderness religion). Dr Gould also works with the DeathTech Research Team (https://deathtech.research.unimelb.edu.au), studying body disposal practices and DIY deathcare rituals. Dr Gould is currently Senior Lecturer in Buddhist Studies, tasked with developing a new programme of religious studies at The University of Melbourne.
